What is VPN?
VPN or Virtual Private Network is a means for providing safe communication method between two points through a public network.
Security of your communication is ensured via encryption. Encryption algorithms are applied to the communication, making sure that nobody on the public network (Internet) can access the contents of your communication between two points. In effect it creates a private 'tunnel' between two points.
You still need to ensure that your own personal computer is not compromised and you should still exercise care in disclosing personal information to foreign websites or downloading trojan files from unknown sources. However, with VPN, you can be confident that no one can intercept your communications as they travel through the communications "tunnel" between your personal computer and the other computer.
